Odassey started as something messy, winding, and unpredictable — a little like life itself. It all began 4 years ago, at a time when everything was changing and in flux. 
I was pregnant with my first child, trying to finish my bachelor's degree — a task that was already stressful on its own. I've put this pressure on me to finish everything before my little one arrived. In my head, I was juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle, trying not to drop anything. Spoiler alert: I dropped plenty.
Somewhere along the way, I hit a wall. I found myself stuck in this loop of overthinking. Then one day, while I was working on a miniature set design for a different project, I found myself playing with clay, not because I had to but because, seemingly, I needed to. Such a simple act that made me realize something. There were no deadlines, no expectations, no meaning to what I was making, if I didn't set them. So why wasn't I just creating for the joy of it.

That's when it clicked.

Up until then, I'd been trying to control every twist and turn in my life. But as I shaped that piece of clay, I realized that life isn't meant to be so tightly controlled. It's unpredictable, full of highs and lows, and that's okay. My experience of stepping into motherhood, finishing my studies, and rediscovering my creativity felt like an Odyssey: a journey filled with uncertainty, excitement, anxiety, and beauty—all in one. And you know what? That's how ODASSEY got its name.

What is the meaning of Odassey?

I’ve always loved the name Oda. It’s rooted in Old High German and means “owner” or “heiress.” To me, it symbolizes someone who holds something meaningful — whether that’s a physical possession, wisdom or an intangible strength. And combining that with the idea of an Odyssey? It just felt right. 

Odassey is about the journey, not the destination. It's about what you will find along the way, how you will transform, and what you will make from the things you carry along. Sometimes you let go of the things, that no longer serve you. Other times, you treasure what you've built or found along the way. This has formed the core for the brand.

From Clay to Craftsmanship

When I started making jewelry, it wasn't about making a business, rather, on some level, it was about reconnecting with myself. I would go to bed at night, lying sleepless, looking up techniques, watching YouTube tutorials, and learning from other artists. It was like a whole new world had opened up, and I just couldn't get enough of it. First of all, it was just creating something that I could wear — these tiny pieces of joy that I could carry with me, some kind of reminder of what it felt like to let go and just be. The more I learned, though, the more I wanted to share this feeling with others.

Handmade jewelry became my way of telling a story — your story, my story, all of our little “odysseys.” Each piece I create has a personal touch, whether it’s the texture of resin shaped by hand or the detail of sterling silver forged with care. It’s like crafting a miniature adventure, something you can hold in your hand and take with you wherever you go.

In a world full of mass-produced everything, there is something very special about handmade jewelry. Each piece will be slightly different. Not about perfection, but character, uniqueness, and love poured into the process.

When I work on a new design, I think about it as shaping part of the Odassey story. From the very first sketch to the last polish, every little step is deliberate. Sure, it's slower and sometimes more difficult, but therein lies the beauty. It is a reminder that good things in life take time, and that is surely something to be celebrated.
